The existing property was built in
the 90’s, on a steep gradient.
Existing shrubs were overgrown & leggy, with a mossy lawn and very poor soil.
The owner has recently built a conservatory, reducing the size of the garden
to about 60m sq and causing an awkward ‘L’ shape. The client
wishes to use the garden for entertainment, working, relaxing
and some occasional gardening.
Three timber deck levels were
created to add structure and
direction to the garden. Raised planting beds were incorporated
thus creating interest and height at various levels and doubled as
seating. Using a stainless steel
water feature we created a focal point which could be viewed directly from inside the house.
Architectural specimens were used
to create all year interest, which
were softened using a mix of prairie style planting, harmonising the whole design.
